Before you write or call

• Decide your main ask in one or two sentences (for example: stronger accountability for traffickers when sales lead to death; resources for investigation and prosecution; support for prevention education).


• Keep a respectful tone. Staff read large volumes of mail; clarity helps.


• If you are a constituent, say so and include your city or ZIP.

What to include

1. Who you are (constituent, family member, concerned resident).


2. Why you care (a local impact, a family experience you are willing to share, or community concern).


3. A specific request.


4. Thanks for their time and a way to follow up if appropriate.
