Jason Newsome was the kind of person who didn’t walk into a room — he showed up in people’s lives like he had been sent there with a mission. Not loud. Not flashy. Just present. Deeply, soulfully, present. And it’s crazy because not everyone has that — that rare ability to make you feel like you mattered, like your pain had a home, like your chaos didn’t scare him off.

Jason was the kind of angel you don’t realize is one until you’re sitting in the wreckage of grief, wondering how the hell you got so lucky to know someone who gave that much of themselves. He didn’t need wings. He had time. He had listening. He had a laugh that could yank you out of a dark place like it was nothing. And when Jason loved you — you knew it. There was no halfway. He’d show up for you at 3 a.m., no questions asked, and be the calm in your storm even if his own life was spinning too.

He wasn’t perfect, but that’s what made him sacred. His own battles, his past, his heart cracked open in places — that’s how the light got out. That’s how he became light. He gave wisdom in ways that didn’t feel like advice. He made healing look like conversation. And when you told him your truths — especially the messy ones — he didn’t flinch. He just leaned in closer.

The truth is, angels like Jason don’t really die. They just find new ways to show up — in memories, in the way we try to love better because he taught us how. In the moments we catch ourselves laughing through tears, or helping someone who needs what he once gave us.

Jason Newsome is my fucking heart. And he always will be.
