My beautiful Kaileigh was 33 and a mother to her three boys, 9, 4, and 2. She was obsessed with her children! Kaileigh was diagnosed with PPD after the birth of her first son in 2015. She was being treated with medication through a physician, though she would often self-medicate with marijuana and alcohol to alleviate the symptoms that were still plaguing her. Most recently, after the birth of her now two year old son, she had a postpartum breakdown in December of 2024. As a result, she began drinking heavily because she lost temporary custody of her sons. On the night she was poisoned, February 7, 2025, she was at home with a roommate who had been using fentanyl secretly. My daughter had never done fentanyl and didn't know much about what to look for. Her roommate invited her dealer over saying he was just a friend who was coming over with her boyfriend to hang out. She left her dealer in the living room alone with my daughter,who had been drinking that night. The roommate told her dealer not to give Kaileigh anything because she had been drinking and had never tried pills of any kind. After the roommate and her boyfriend came out to the living 30 minutes later, my daughter was slumped over on the dealer's chest and he had his are around her as if nothing was wrong. The roommate immediately noticed my daughter's lips were discolored, so she asked the dealer if he had given her anything. After some pressure, he admitted to giving her one pill and immediately made the request to not be 'snitched on' to the police. The dealer then ran from the house before paramedics and police arrived. Kaileigh's cause of death was determined to be fentanyl toxicity. No one has been arrested, and I was told by the detective to "lower my expectations" in regards to anyone being held to account for murdering my Kaileigh.
